I Can't Wait to Love You!

I can’t wait to love you-

I can’t wait to wake up every morning and,
NOT mind that its YOU-

I  can’t wait to kiss you….
while- you still have bad breath-
because I see on TV
that that’s, what real lovers do-
So I can’t wait to love you-

I can’t wait to slip on some under wear,
either yours or mine-
a t-shirt whether yours or mine-
because it wouldn’t matter-
and go down stairs and make you breakfast-
because that's what I see- on the TV,
That that’s, what lovers do-
So I can’t wait to love you-

Oh my sweet man,
I can’t wait to love you-
and bring you breakfast in bed,
massage your neck…
Wash your locks in the shower-
oil your head-
And hate to see you leave for work-

Oh my smart black man-
I can’t wait to love you so much-
That I miss YOU!
I can’t wait to feel that way-
as I go about my day-
It has been too long (8hrs) before I see your face,

I can’t wait to read that text from you
that says you miss me too-
I can’t wait for that feeling NOT to get old-
I can’t wait for that to feel like gold-
EVERY TIME!

Oh My sweet black man,
Can’t you see, that I can’t wait to love you?

And when you come home,
I’ll take your briefcase from your hand-
I’ll have your cold beer ready-
And I’ll be ready to love you-

I can’t wait to hear your dreams,
as we lay in bed at night-
I can’t wait to give you myself-
and not worry about weather or not-
I will be having your child,
Because this time
I will WANT to have your child!

And so I’ll welcome all of you into me
and pray to the
heavens to hear me so that
God can plant half of you and half of me
and that soon we can be a family of three-

Oh my sweet, my sweet-black man-
I can’t wait to love you-
I can’t wait to hear your laugh-
I can’t wait for it to be music to my ears-
I can’t wait for us to share something so untouchable
that we hold on to each other just to get a scene
of it, coz that’s the only time it feels right.

I can’t wait to not care about your mistakes
and you not to care about my past, because
even though we’ve both stood complete before
Standing together just makes us- better- people....

And baby, I don’t want a love that makes the people jealous-
I don’t want a love that makes my lady friends envious-
That’s not the kind of love that I want for us-
I want a love that can inspire the world to love-
That young men can look to, and learn how to treat  their women
That women can look to, and STILL feel empowered, independent and are able
to find value in loving and serving their men, with honesty and loyalty-

That is the kind of love, that I can’t wait to love you with! <3

Oh my sweet Black man-

I cannot Wait!

CPR this Friendship

(I am not apologizing for the artistic license I took, to exaggerate the reality of true events in my life, but I say/write this 'intro', to let my audience and readers know- that this poem is an exaggeration of true events- enjoy)

can somebody
help me, CPR
this friendship?

we were on sail
on a ship-
on pretty boat
called friendship-

then i got a scholarship-
and had to dip-
told her i’d be back every year-
Oh yes baby,
i’d make that trip!!!

We both understood
this was an opportunity
i just couldn’t skip-

tears in-
both our eyes-
i missed her
as much as she missed me-

but to her
I was just missin’
loneliness made her feel
like i was just trippin’

tryin' to make her wait for me?
nah mehhn-
she got to skippin’!

She found a new friend in the Lord-
and cut our friendship like an umbilical cord-

now Jesus n her are kicking it-
i came back to a sunken ship
tryin to revive this shit
but the holy ghost
aint havin’ it!

I need someone to help me CPR this friendship -
coz its dying—
and i swear
there’s a part of me
inside of me
that is really trying
to save it-
but the other part of me
has walked away already-
buried this shit already
said a prayer and carved RIEP
already—
because you see,
she doesn’t laugh at my jokes anymore-
she finds them stale-
she doesn’t want to be around me anymore-
what used to moistures us together
now makes us pale-
I know i should be happy
the lord is your new best friend now-
but why does it feel like betrayal?
if you ask me how much it hurts on a scale of 1-10
we gon have to buy a bigger scale!
coz it hurts a lot when friendships fail-

I need someone to help me CPR this friendship coz its dying
and i know there’s a part of me inside me that is still trying
to make this work-
but the other day when i was over-
and my hang over was hanging over-
she was sober in the corner-
askin God to help me turn over-
she said-
"shabalakala- Lord fix it!
if it aint holy water-
Lord don’t let her drink it-
Shabalakala- Lord fix it!
if it aint pure thoughts  Lord-
don’t let her think it-"

all of a sudden i’m un pure-
and need a cure-
so—

I need someone to help me CPR this friendship
because
we can’t hang-
we don’t talk-
I try to remind her of our good times in the past-
remember we used to- laugh till we cry?
remember we used to- debate about stuff?
remember our long walks - and short runs?
remember our dates?
our lunches and dinners?
our uncalled for snack times?
remember you taught me how to walk again after i
dislocated my knee?
wasn’t it you who held my hand through therapy-
and even unnecessarily when we crossed the street?

my conversations of the past seem
unnecessarily irritative and repetitive
coz she’s moved on-
she’s grown
and i’m still
i’m still the same-
i haven’t changed
i’m still standing
where we left off
I came back-
just to find you gone-
and now-
I don’t know how to move on-

So can someone please help me CPR this friendship?

Coz I used to make her smile-
but God’s jokes
got her feeling like my humor’s weak-
see i
used to wipe her tears-
but God doesn't even give her a reason to cry-
so i’m standing here like

 who am i?

what am i good for?

i used to make her talk-
but her silence got me feeling like my
conversations
not worth her station-
she be tuning into Yesu Fm-

If my audience feels me right now-
Can I get an "Amen"?

I need someone help me CPR this friendship-

and see normally I would turn to you God-
But seeing this may be a conflict of interest-

Can someone please help me CPR this friendship?
Coz it’s dying-
I know-
that against God I stand
nowhere in competition-
But have you ever seen
a crazy man on a mission?

I need someone to help me CPR this friendship- coz i know there’s a part of me inside me that is still trying

So
i’ll stay around baby-
just for old time sake-

i love you baby-
and i could never use a break
i know that
what God shows you is real-
but that doesn’t make me fake-

we aren't dead yet baby girl
we just simply aint awake.

Kwibuka21

On a day like this,
Rwanda needed super heroes.

On a day like this,
Rwanda needed angels to fall from the skies.

On a day like this,
God needed to stop being a mystery…
work wonders against all odds…
And answer the question "why?".

But instead on a day like this,
Rwanda had no super heroes,
A PLANE fell from the sky,
God didn’t work wonders
and has never answered the question why.

So every year around this time,
We remember and we cry.
Days like this in April-
When others celebrate spring
I see my peoples eyes, tearing-

The fourth month of the year
is hard for my people to endure-
but you can be sure,
that we the youth, are the cure-

Babyeyi,We see your broken hearts
But through us,
we can mend them
We see your worried thoughts
But through us,
you can put them  to rest

we know well it’s a challenge
but we are ready
to be put to the test.

Ready to write your stories in books
Ready to Facebook status the facts,
Ready to tweet and retweet the truth,
Ready to close shut, every open door
to genociders and deniers
ready to be a youth
that success itself ,
could show as proof.

Today we stand here
In hopes that through us,
You see a brighter future
In hopes that through us
You can build your hopes and dreams
In hopes that through us
You can instill your trust.

Today we hold hands with you as one
In the spirit of remembrance
In the spirit of perseverance

But before we leave this stage-
We’d just like to thank you-
For teaching us to love one another-
No matter ethnicity, tribe or color-
We thank you for your lessons of unity-
We thank you for your lessons of dignity-

Babyeyi, Murakoze-

Turakomeza twibuke abacu
bazize genocide, mu byuryo
bgo kwiyubaka,
Kwitezimbere-
Bayeyi , namwe mwese turi hano-
-Mukomere muri ibi bihe
Imana ibarinde!

Murakoze.

Intashyo Lyrics (Uwamahoro's Part)

Flashback April 1994

watching graphic scenes
off your tv screens
yet it seems-
our screams were silent

don’t understand it-
The UN said it’s
not enough to demand it-
should be stopped-

Rwanda’s cries
in the news-
the world watched
CNN BBC
like movie-
they had eyes on us
but they could’t not to see
genocide had us terrorized
victimized but no one realized

So many lost ones.
so many orphans
so many guns
 so many machetes
so many people on ,their knees
so many unheard prayers
begging ,God please
so many questions
so little answers
so much hate
so many late
aunties and uncles
mummies and Daddies

so much pain
so much wrong fame for my 250
so many bruises
so many sores
so many terrible stories
so many tears  so many fears
so many memories so little pictures
so many mixtures of emotions
so much confusion
so much need to move ahead
so we agreed to put it in for unity

good morning to our viewers and listeners
 it is April 7th 2015
and today Rwandans all over the world Commemorate the Genocide against the
tutsi that happened 21 years ago-
We have a special guests here, in the studio from Rwanda,
who are  to tell us- what its like to be  a young adult, coming from and living
Rwanda today-thank you all for joining us— the floor is yours

where we would doubt
now there is dreams

where we were hopeless
now we are hopeful
the faces we used to cry on
we put a smile on
where we were fearful
now we are fearless
where there was hate
now there is love
where we were broken
we put it together
where there was pain,
now there is pleasure
where there was rain
now there is sunshine
what was division
now is unity
what there was confusion
now is clarity

Rwanda is NOT Hotel Rwanda!!!

Rwanda- is not hotel Rwanda
No-
Rwanda is the heart beating life of Africa-
The world’s example and definition of hope, resilience and ambition
If you haven't yet heard
listen,
Grab a pen and learn-
Rwanda is a lesson.

Rwanda is where the great Kivu lake
Rests in-
Where the birds of the Nyungwe forest
Nest in
and the foreign investors fly all the way to
Invest in
What's happening right now in Rwanda
Is interestin’
And its amazin’
To be a part of and watch...

Watch...
Rwanda

Rwanda is
Tens of growing cities
Hundreds of opportunities
The land of a thousand hills-
The faces of a million smiles-
And just
one people
-
We are united back home-
Where I come from...

In Rwanda there is freedom
Where we live in peace
And live as we please
Yemwe simvuga amahanga
Nda vuga iwacu murwanda
Ahari kubera ibitangaza-

Rwanda Is
birds and lakes
Lights and city streets,
Volcanoes and silver backs,
Restaurants,
Cinemas and coffee beans,
teas, industries,  electricity and honey bees...
I come from the earth's last piece of paradise

A big hearted land
Where my people
Chose forgiveness
Form the atrocities they witnessed
A land
Where we are not afraid to speak the truth
A land
Where there is room for the youth
A land
Where one people work hard hand in hand
To demand,
Justice and dignity-

We come from a land-
That has risen from the ashes of sorrow
To the rose blossom of tomorrow
A land
of agaciro-
We come from that land

So NO-
Rwanda is not hotel Rwanda-
We will not be defined by the genocide
Rwanda is
A land of pride-
The home to
dreamers, believers and achievers,
Learners and teachers
Humans and creatures
the heart beating life of Africa-
The worlds example and definition of hope, reliance and ambition
If you haven't yet heard
Yo, I hope you listened
Rwanda is a lesson
!!!
